~Session Details~ Location: I prefer to use natural light when possible. All portrait sessions are on-location, either in the comfort of your own home, or at a favorite outdoor spot. We can work together to determine the best time and location for you and your family. Typically, early morning or after a nap is the best time for young children.Clothing: When picking out clothing, it is important to think about the look and feel you would like reflected in your portraits. If you desire a more "classic" look, try to avoid clothing with logos and distracting patterns or colors ~simplicity is key! We can discuss clothing options before your session to get the best outcome. For babies, often no clothing at all provides the best results, as bare skin photographs best. We can do a few shots in a favorite outfit or with accessories such as blankets or toys that have special meaning. For older children I recommend basic styles, solid colors and bare feet (if possible). A trendy style can also look adorable! Use your imagination to combine bright colors and fun accessories, such as shoes, tights, bows and hats. The look is completely up to you, but should reflect your child's unique personality. Be sure to bring a few different outfits so that we can mix it up during our time together. Newborns: Newborn sessions are best held in the first two weeks of life to capture that sleepy, curled up look. The session usually lasts one to two hours to allow for the needs of your new little one. Newborns are happiest when they are warm and well fed, so please plan on feeding your baby just before I arrive and turn the heat up a bit to get the house nice and cozy. I recommend swaddling in just a diaper and blanket, so that we don't have to remove clothing later on. If possible try to secure the diaper loosely to minimize marks on your baby's skin. You may want to consider scheduling your session before your delivery date to ensure we photograph your new baby at the ideal age. Maternity: The best time for your maternity session is around 32~37 weeks when your belly will be well-defined enough to photograph. I recommend bringing a variety of clothing selections that best accentuate your growing belly. Some great basics include: a classic, white button-down shirt with pre-pregnancy jeans (they do not need to zip or button!); form fitting tank tops or camisoles with yoga pants, and fun, flirty lingerie. If you are feeling daring, we can even do artistic topless or full nude maternity poses with your hands strategically placed or using a variety of maternity wraps and pieces of cloth. This is your time to show off your beautiful pregnancy curves and to celebrate the life growing inside you! Please schedule at a time when your loved ones are available to be in some of the portraits with you. Family Portraits: I like to capture natural, candid images of your family interacting together in addition to traditional portraits. You are also welcome to join in for a few interactive shots during the session with your child to highlight your family relationship. Pet Portrait Sessions: Most of us have at least one pet near and dear to our hearts. Let me capture the true spirit and character of your beloved pet. I believe that pet portraits are best captured at your home or a favorite spot such as a park or a beach, rather than in a sterile studio environment. Let me capture your pet’s personality in a way you can cherish forever! |
